What is THE SECOND INNINGS?
Give your bat a second life.
Every season, good cricket bats end up at the back of a shed, a school sports cupboard, or a club kit bag, retired long before they’re really done. The Second Innings gives them a way back into the game.
Run by Gentlemen & Players, The Second Innings takes bats donated by schools, clubs, coaches, amateurs and professionals, bats with some life still left in them, refurbishes them by hand, and sells them back into cricket at a price that opens up better kit to more players. And 10% of every sale goes straight back into grassroots cricket.
Why it matters
Sustainability. A refurbished bat is one less bat in landfill. Reusing good willow instead of replacing it is cricket’s own small contribution to the green agenda.
Affordability. Not everyone can afford a brand new bat. The Second Innings makes excellent bats available at a fraction of the price, without a drop in quality.
Grassroots cricket. Every bat sold puts money back into the game, supporting the clubs, coaches and causes that keep cricket growing at grassroots level.
Charity partner
We will be announcing our charity partner for 2026/27 very soon – it will focus on giving back into the game, especially grassroots cricket. 10% of all revenue from bat sales will be donated to our charity partner.
