Glamorgan Hall of Fame Honour Caps
Gentlemen & Players recently partnered with Glamorgan County Cricket Club to produce a series of custom Honour Caps for the club’s annual Former Players’ Association event at Sophia Gardens.
The event included the induction of three former cricketers into Glamorgan’s Hall of Fame, and the club plans to induct further players as the year progresses.
As part of the ceremony, each inductee received a customised Honour Cap, designed and manufactured by Gentlemen & Players to reflect Glamorgan’s history.
Why have Honour Caps?
Honour Caps have long been used in cricket to mark achievements, international representation, and exceptional contribution.
More and more clubs are incorporating honour caps into their awards and celebration evenings: including Hall of Fame Inductions. The presentation caps offer something more than a traditional trophy – which is left to rust on a shelf and lacks identity.
Our bespoke honour caps are made to include each personal achievement. They reflect the club colours and identity, so when you’re looking at it – you remember those memories at the club.
It’s made to last. So, your memories last. Not forgotten. Not rusted.
The Glamorgan Project
For Glamorgan, Gentlemen & Players created a bespoke cap that matched the exact club colours and crest specifications.
Each cap was embroidered with the Hall of Fame number assigned to the inductee, along with personal details unique to that player.
Recently, the following players were introduced into the Hall of Fame:
- Simon Jones
- Greg Thomas
- Steve “Basil” Barwick
- Mike Powell
- Mike Cann
The project required detailed coordination with Glamorgan regarding colour references, crest artwork, embroidery sizing and positioning, and internal personalisation.
We like to think that we partner with clubs, counties, and international organisations, and communicate effectively to ensure we deliver the perfect product.
From design options, crest location, colours, and much more, our team designs and sends it back to you for feedback.
That way – with everything designed to your exact requirements – we get the perfect bespoke Honour Cap that everyone can be proud of.
And it’s our traditional manufacturing methods that we’re incredibly proud of. Honour Caps are a historical and traditional product – and it’s important to reflect that history in the gap.
The Glamorgan presentation caps were then presented to the inductees during the ceremony.
Why Honour Caps Work for Recognition & Heritage
Trophies have their place in the world. We’re not saying not to grab a trophy.
But when someone has spent a lifetime dedicated to the club, is a trophy sending the right message? Is it recognisable, just how their achievements have been? Will it be cherished?
Clubs increasingly ask about Honour Caps because they provide a structured, repeatable way to recognise contributions.
Whether for a Hall of Fame, debut appearance, long-serving volunteer, or significant milestone, the cap acts as a permanent, high-quality artefact linked directly to the club’s legacy.
For Glamorgan, the Honour Caps now form part of a long-term recognition strategy. Each future inductee can receive a cap in the same style, helping build a consistent Hall of Fame programme that will grow year on year.
Slowly, it will create a beautiful hall of fame – where people strive to be remembered.
Recognise Your Player Achievements with Presentation Caps
Glamorgan is telling its story.
But we want to help you tell your story, your members’ stories and create a lasting legacy.
Whether that’s a volunteer who endlessly gives up their time to help the club, an individual player who has exceeded in performances, or inducting a long-standing member into a hall of fame.
We’ve had Blackburn Rovers, Glamorgan, and Munster Rugby celebrate their players and staff in recent weeks.
But we’ve also helped countless clubs celebrate their history, too, with award nights across football, rugby, rowing and cricket.
So, if you want to give back to your members, give them something recognisable and steeped in club tradition – then let’s chat about how we can make you the perfect bespoke presentation cap.
