What is Pass the Bat On?

Pass the Bat On gives quality cricket bats a second life. We collect donated bats, professionally refurbish them, and get them back into the game — making cricket more affordable, more inclusive, and more sustainable.

Why it matters

A good bat shouldn’t be a barrier. Pass the Bat On tackles three big challenges in cricket: affordability, inclusivity, and sustainability — by extending the life of quality equipment and redirecting value back into communities.

Sustainability you can see

Every refurbished bat is one less bat sitting unused, and one less new bat needed. By repairing, restoring and reusing, Pass the Bat On keeps great kit in circulation and turns “wasted” equipment into opportunity — season after season.

Giving money back to the game

Pass the Bat On isn’t here to make a profit – all profits generated from bats goes back into grassroots cricket through our charity partner, All 2 Play 4. See below for more details.

Partnership with All 2 Play 4

All To Play For (All 2 Play 4) plays the key charity-partner role: they will distribute all charity funds to support accessibility in cricket.

All To Play For exists to widen access to the transformative power of sport, in memory of grassroots champions Nick Gandon and Simon Prodger — breaking down barriers so more children get a sporting chance.

How Pass the Bat On gives to grassroots cricket

Pass the Bat On is built to create predictable charitable income and direct it back into grassroots cricket — without placing operational burden on charities.

Here’s the simple model (per bat sold):

  • A fixed £25 covers the real cost of skilled refurbishment and materials.
  • After that, remaining revenue is split 50:50 between the operator, G&P (to cover staff, sustainable practices and processing costs) and the designated charity partners (allocated by All 2 Play 4).
  • Charity funds are paid quarterly to All 2 Play 4, with transparent reporting on sales volumes, average selling prices and total charitable contribution.
